Browser Clover Tips : Add a Tip After a Sale
This article walks through adding a tip to a transaction after the sale is finalized in the Club Caddie Browser application. You'll use the Add Tip tool on the Sales row action menu a slide-in panel that lets you enter the tip amount, credit it to a specific employee, and (for orders with multiple payments) target which payment line the tip applies to.
Before You Start
- This article assumes your facility uses Clover Connect for card processing and has the post-sale Add Tip feature enabled
- You’ll need access to the Sales module and the row action menu inside it.
- This article does not cover the initial Clover setup (turning on tip prompts on the device). That’s a separate workflow.
How to Add a Tip After a Sale (Browser)
Step 1 — Go to Sales
In the left sidebar, click Sales. The Recent Orders grid loads.
Step 2 — Find the transaction
Scroll or filter to the order you need to update. The grid shows a dedicated Tip column — orders without a tip yet show 0.00 in that column.

Step 3 — Open the row action menu
At the right end of the row, under the Action column, click the three-dot menu. Select Add Tip

Step 4 — Review the payment summary
At the top of the panel, a summary table shows every payment line on the order. Each row has:
For a simple single-payment order, you’ll see one row. For orders with split tenders, refunds, or tee-booking adjustments, you may see several rows.
Step 6 — Fill in the three fields
Below the summary table:
- Add Tip Amount — type the tip dollar amount.
- Select Employee — pick the employee the tip should be credited to. Skipping this routes the tip to an "Unassigned" bucket in your tip reports — don’t skip it.
- Select Applied To — pick which payment line the tip should be allocated to. This field is pre-populated with the primary payment method on the order (for example, membership_id : BaileyCC). For orders with multiple payments, switch this to the payment line you actually want the tip to land on.

Step 7 — Save
Click Add to commit the tip, or Close to cancel without saving.
Notes
NOTE: The Select Employee field is what ties the tip to the right person for tip reporting. If you leave it blank, the tip lands in the "Unassigned" row of the Tips Summary report and won’t be credited to anyone. Always pick a name.
TIP: The Browser version of Add Tip shows all payment lines on the order, not just the main one. That’s intentional — it lets you handle split-tender and adjusted orders. If the tip should go against the customer’s card (not against a refund line or tee-booking adjustment), confirm the Select Applied To dropdown is set to the customer’s actual payment method before clicking Add.
Important note: Add Tip is available on cash transactions in Browser too — not just card payments. The same five-item action menu appears whether the row’s Payment Type is cash, membership, multiple, or Offline Credit. The tip records the same way.
Where Tips Show Up in Reports (Browser)
Three reports under the Reports module surface tip data:
Tip Ledger Report
Line-item detail. One row per tip applied. Columns:
Filter by user dropdown and date range.
Tips Summary
Per-employee aggregate. Columns:
If any tips were entered with Select Employee blank, they show under an Unassigned row — a clear signal that someone skipped the field and the tip didn’t get credited.
Server Banking Summary Report
Also lives in the Reports module. Used for end-of-shift reconciliation. (Column structure not detailed in this article — coming in v1.5.)
Troubleshooting
The three-dot menu doesn’t show Add Tip
Confirm you’re on a transaction with Status = Active. Voided transactions don’t get tips added. If Status is Active and Add Tip is still missing, your facility may not have the feature enabled yet — check with your admin or contact Club Caddie support.
Add Tip is available but the panel won’t open
Try refreshing the page (Ctrl+R). Browser sessions occasionally lose state — a refresh usually restores the action.
The summary table is empty when the panel opens
This can happen briefly while payment records load. Click Close, reopen the panel, and the table should populate. If it stays empty, capture the order ID and contact support.
I picked the wrong employee — can I fix it?
Confirmation of how Browser handles tip edits or removals is pending verification. For now, contact Club Caddie support with the order ID and the correct employee name; they can correct the attribution.
Tips are missing across the board and so are payments, voids, and refunds
This is almost always a Clover outage, not a Browser problem. Check the Clover Status page. While Clover is down, switch to manual card entry for new transactions — that runs through a separate processor. Don’t keep retrying Add Tip during an active outage.
A tip needs to be refunded after the batch has settled
This has to go through merchant support — it can’t be voided from Club Caddie once the batch has settled. Contact your CardConnect or merchant support team.
