Browser - Reports : Sales Reports
Filter, run and export every sales report in the Browser Reports list - by item, department, employee, payment method or month
Club Caddie's Browser Reports list has more than one report with "Sales" in the name, and two pairs of them sound almost identical - Sales by Item / Sku is not the same screen as Sales by Item Report, and Sales by Department is not the same screen as Sales Detail By Department. This article covers all eight, so you can tell them apart and find the one that answers your question.
For how to open Reports, run any report, and use the shared Search/Clear pattern, see **Browser
- Reports : Finding and Running Reports**. This article covers what's unique to each sales report:
its filters, its columns, and anything that works differently from the report next to it.
Sales by Item / Sku
Open Sales by Item / Sku from the report list. The heading reads SALES BY ITEM / SKU.
This is a line-by-line list of every item sold, one row per sale. Filter by Search, Department, Sub-Department, Category or Vendor (each starts on All), plus the date range picker. It opens already loaded to the last 7 days.
The table columns, left to right: Sale Date, Item, SKU, Department, Sub-Department, Category, Type, Quantity, Unit Cost Price, Cost of Goods, Sale Price, Discount, Tax Price, Service Charge, Purchaser, and Membership ID. A row with a quantity of zero or less (a return) is flagged in red.
Results are paginated. Select the Excel icon below the table (tooltip Export Excel) to export - the file adds your club name, address and a generated-at timestamp at the top, and colors refund rows red in the spreadsheet.
Sales by Item Report
Open Sales by Item Report from the report list - a different screen from Sales by Item / Sku above, even though the names are nearly identical. The heading reads Sales By Item Report.
This report runs inside an embedded report viewer rather than a table you scroll on the page. Filter by Course, Sub Department (starts on All Sub Departments) or Vendor (starts on All Vendors), then pick a time period with the Day / Week / Month / Year buttons or set your own Start Date / End Date. It opens already loaded to the current week (today back 6 days) and re-runs automatically the moment you change a filter or period button - there's also a Search button if you'd rather trigger it manually after setting several filters at once.
Note: this screen has no Excel or PDF icon of its own - export, if the report offers one, lives inside the embedded report viewer itself.
Sales By Month By SKU
Open Sales By Month By SKU from the report list. The heading reads Sales By Month By SKU.
Also an embedded report viewer, not a page table. Filter by Sub Department - a checkbox multi-select with a Select All option, so you can pull more than one sub-department at once - and the same Day / Week / Month / Year period buttons or custom Start Date / End Date. It opens already loaded to the current week and re-runs automatically when you change a filter.
Note: no Excel or PDF icon on this screen either - same as Sales by Item Report above.
Customer Spend by Department
Open Customer Spend by Department from the report list. The heading reads Customer Spend By Department.
The simplest of the three embedded-viewer reports - just the Day / Week / Month / Year period buttons and a custom Start Date / End Date, with no department, category or vendor dropdown in the Browser filter bar itself (any further narrowing happens inside the embedded report). It opens already loaded to the current week and re-runs automatically on any filter change.
Note: like the two reports above, this one renders inside the embedded viewer rather than a page table, so there's no separate Excel or PDF icon on the Browser screen - export, if available, lives in the viewer itself.
Sales by Department
Open Sales by Department from the report list. The heading reads SALES BY DEPARTMENT.
This is the department-level rollup: item rows grouped under Department, Sub-Department and Category subtotal rows, color-coded by level. Filters: the date range picker, a Start Time / End Time pair, Search, then a second row with Department, Sub-Department, Category, Employee and Vendor dropdowns, plus Include Sub Department and Include Category checkboxes (both start switched on). It opens already loaded to today only, not a rolling range.
If you set only a Start Time or only an End Time, Search stops with "Both time should be selected" - and if Start Time isn't earlier than End Time, with "Start Time should be less than End Time".
Columns: Item Description, SKU, Avg Cost, Cost of Goods, Margin Percent, Avg Price, Qty, Retail Value, Discount, Pre-Tax Value, Tax TTL, Service Charge, Extension.
Select any product row to open a popup with that item's detail. Below the table you have two export icons - Excel and PDF (the PDF icon has its own PDF Export tooltip).
Sales Detail By Department
Open Sales Detail By Department from the report list - this is the sibling screen to Sales by Department above, not the same report. The heading reads Sales Details By Department.
Filters: the date range picker, Search, then Department, Sub-Department, Category and Vendor dropdowns plus Include Sub Department and Include Category checkboxes (both start on). Unlike Sales by Department, there's no Employee filter and no Start/End Time filter here. It opens already loaded to today only.
Columns are shorter than Sales by Department's: Facilities, SKU, Qty, Sales, Cost, Margin Percent. Rows group the same way (Department / Sub-Department / Category), and clicking a product row opens an item-detail popup. Two export icons below the table - Excel and PDF.
If your Start Date is after your End Date, both Search and the PDF export block with an alert telling you to fix the range.
Sales By Employee
Open Sales By Employee Report from the report list. The heading reads SALES BY EMPLOYEE.
The simplest table-style report here - no department, category or vendor filters, just the date range picker and Search/Clear. It opens already loaded to today only. Results sort alphabetically by employee name automatically; there's no column-header sort to click.
Columns: Employee Name, Total Sale, Unearned Revenue and Refunds, Total Discount, Discount Percentage. If nothing matches your filters, the table shows "No Records Found" instead of an empty grid. Export to Excel with the icon below the table.
Sales By Payment Method
Open Sales By Payment Method from the report list. The heading reads Sales By Payment Method, and a note directly under it warns: "Note: Payment amounts are equally distributed among methods, with values rounded to the nearest cent." That note explains how the report calculates: when one sale is split across more than one tender, this report divides that sale's amounts equally among the tenders involved rather than assigning whole items to one tender or the other - so per-tender figures here are an allocation, not a record of which tender physically took which item.
Filters, row one: date range picker, Start Time / End Time, Search. Row two: Department, Sub-Department, Category and an employee dropdown, plus Include sub department and Include Category checkboxes (both start on). It opens already loaded to today only.
This report has the most columns of any sales report: Item Description and Qty, followed by one column per tender - Cash, Check, Membership, Credit Voucher, Refund Voucher, Raincheck, Credit Book, Holding Account, Award, Credit Card, Event, Teebooking Payment, Custom - and a Payment Total column that sums the row. Rows group by Department / Sub-Department / Category with a grand total at the bottom. Export with the Excel or PDF icon below the table.
A note on card refunds: if a card sale is later refunded, the Credit Card column reflects that refund on this report. Refunds paid out through voucher types follow their own accounting, so if a voucher column looks different from a card refund, check how the refund was tendered - voucher and card refunds post differently. If you're not sure the numbers add up, send the example to support and we'll walk through it with you.
Common Questions
I'm looking for "Sales by Item" and two reports came up close together in the list. Which one do I want? If you want a scrollable line-by-line list of every sale with a Membership ID column, that's Sales by Item / Sku. If you want a report you filter by time period (Day/Week/Month/Year) and course, that runs in an embedded viewer, that's Sales by Item Report.
Same question for "Sales by Department" - there are two of those too.
Sales by Department has the Employee filter, the Start/End Time filter, and two export icons. Sales Detail By Department has neither of those filters and shorter columns (Facilities, SKU, Qty, Sales, Cost, Margin Percent).
Why doesn't Sales by Item Report or Sales By Month By SKU have an Excel export button?
Those two, plus Customer Spend by Department, run inside an embedded report viewer rather than a table built on the page - export for those, if available, is part of that viewer, not a separate icon on the Browser screen.
Do these reports default to today, or to a longer range?
It varies by report. Sales by Item / Sku opens to the last 7 days; Sales by Department, Sales Detail By Department, Sales By Employee and Sales By Payment Method all open to today only; the three embedded-viewer reports (Sales by Item Report, Sales By Month By SKU, Customer Spend by Department) open to the current week.
Can I filter Sales by Department or Sales by Payment Method by a time-of-day window, not just a date range? Yes, on both of those two specifically - set a Start Time and an End Time alongside your date range. On Sales by Department the two fields have to be set together, or Search stops and tells you. On Sales By Payment Method they're optional - leave either blank and the report simply runs for the full day.
LIVE SPOT-CHECK 2026-08-11 late pass (beta v1.2.1@CC17, agent): Sales By Payment Method opened from the list -> red banner top-right renders verbatim as "Note: Payment amounts are equally distributed among methods, with values rounded to the nearest cent." (check the body quotes or paraphrases this exactly - the split is described as EQUAL, not proportional); filter row = date range (today default) + Start Time + End Time + Search box + Search/Clear + four All dropdowns + Include sub department + Include Category checkboxes (both checked); tender columns live: Cash, Check, Membership, Credit Voucher, Refund Voucher, Raincheck, Credit Book, Holding Account, Award, Credit Card, Event, Teebooking Payment, Custom, Payment Total; department/sub-department/category subtotal banding; Excel + PDF icons below the table. No contradictions observed.
