[Customers](https://support.clubcaddie.com/customers?hsLang=en) October 21, 2026 # Customers : View a Customer's Credit Book Balance ## Three places to see what credit a customer has left, and when to use each one. ##### **Overview** A credit book holds credit on a customer's account that your staff can apply at the register. When a customer asks how much they have left, you can check it from three places in Club Caddie desktop: the **VOUCHERS** module, the customer's profile, or the register's **TOOLS** panel. Each one lists the customer's credit books with their balances. A customer can hold more than one credit book, and each one keeps its own balance and status. A credit book marked **Closed** can still show a balance, for example once it's past its expiration date, so count the **Open** ones when you tell a customer what they have left. This article covers an individual customer's credit book. For Holding Accounts, which pool money for prize funds and events, start with [Register: Creating a Credit Book Holding Account](https://support.clubcaddie.com/register-creating-a-credit-book-holding-account?hsLang=en). ##### **Check the balance from Vouchers** Use this when you want a customer's credit books in one list, with a total at the bottom. 1. Click **VOUCHERS** in the top navigation. 2. Select **Credit Book Vouchers** in the left sidebar. The **CreditBook** tab opens with the **CREDIT BOOK VOUCHERS** list. 3. Type the customer's name or the voucher number in the search box, then click **Search**. Leave the date beside the search box on today's date so the balances are current. 4. A name search also lists other customers whose first or last name starts with what you typed, so use the **First Name**, **Last Name** and **CustomerId** columns to pick out your customer. Then read the **Voucher Balance** column for each of the customer's credit books, and the **Status** column to see whether each one is **Open**. The **Voucher Ledger** window lists each transaction with its **OrderId**, **Date**, **Description**, **Amount** and **Balance**, and **View Order** opens the order behind it. ##### **Check the balance from the customer's profile** Use this when you already have the customer's profile open, or you want to see their credit books next to their other gift and credit vouchers. 1. Click **CUSTOMERS** in the top navigation. 2. Select **Customers** in the left sidebar. 3. Search for the customer by name or ID, then click **Search**. 4. In the customer's profile, click the **Cards** tab. **GIFT/CREDIT VOUCHERS** opens. When you're done, close the profile with the red **X** in its top right corner. ##### **Check the balance from the register** Use this at the counter, when a customer asks before they pay. 1. Click **REGISTER** in the top navigation. 2. Click **TOOLS** at the end of the category buttons. 3. Click **Check Voucher Balance**. Type the customer's name or the voucher number in the search box, then click **Search**. 5. Close the window with the red **X** in its top right corner. For more on this window, including printing a balance for the customer, see [Register: Check Voucher Balance](https://support.clubcaddie.com/register-tools-check-voucher-balance?hsLang=en). ##### **Common Questions** **Why does my customer show more than one credit book?** Each credit book is its own voucher with its own number and balance. A customer who received credit more than once can hold several. Add the balances of the **Open** ones for what they have left to spend. **How do I see where a customer's credit was spent?** In **VOUCHERS** \> **Credit Book Vouchers**, click **Usage** on the credit book's row. The **Voucher Ledger** lists each transaction with its order, and **View Order** opens it. **Is a Holding Account the same as a customer's credit book?** No. A Holding Account is a shared pot, such as a prize fund, and it sits on the **Holding Account** tab next to **CreditBook**. When you pay winners out of one, each winner's share lands on a credit book in their name.
