# F&B App : Shift Close Out

## Running a server's Shift Close Out from the F&B app and printing the receipt

##### **Overview**

Shift Close Out in the F&B app is a server's own summary for the day: the tips entered and the sales, pulled together for the signed-in server and printed as a receipt. It is per server, per day. The end of day close for a whole terminal is Day End Closing, covered in its own article.

##### **Run a shift close out**

1. Tap the menu icon to open the **Tools** screen.
2. Tap **Shift Close Out**.
3. Review the tips for the day, then tap **SUBMIT**. If your role is set to restrict clock out with open tabs and you still have open orders, the app asks you to settle them before it goes on.
4. Review the summary.
5. Tap **Print** to print the receipt.

##### **Common Questions**

**What is the Sales by Sub-Department section on the receipt?**

The printed receipt lists each sub-department the server sold from that day, with a Total line at the bottom. It reflects that server's sales for the day, not the whole facility's, so a manager gets a quick read on where a server's sales came from, for example Food and Drinks, without opening a report.

**Which sub-departments appear on the receipt?**

The section lists the sub-departments with a sales total for the day that is not zero. A sub-department with nothing sold, or whose sales net to zero after discounts and refunds, does not print a line. If none qualify, the section is left off the receipt.

**Which roles see Shift Close Out on the Tools screen?**

Roles with the Shift Close Out permission. If the tile is not on your Tools screen, ask your manager to check that your role has it.

**Is this the same as Day End Closing?**

No. Shift Close Out shows and prints one server's summary for the day. Day End Closing reconciles the whole terminal at the end of the day.
