# How to Use Shift Close Out to Enter, View, and Export Tips

## This article explains how to access and use the Shift Close Out workflow to enter tip amounts, view tip breakdowns, export results, and enable permissions for the feature.

##### **How do I open Shift Close Out and enter tip information?**

Open the Shift Close Out tool from the Register module and enter the tip amount for an employee, then submit.

1. Click REGISTER at the top of the screen.
2. Click the TOOLS tab, then select Shift Close Out.
3. In the pop-up window, enter the tip information for the employee and click Submit.

##### **How do I view tip breakdowns and other day selections?**

Use the Shift Close Out view after submitting to see a per-employee tip breakdown and change the date with the calendar filter.

- After submitting you will see a breakdown in tips for that employee for the selected day.
- Use the calendar filter at the top of the Shift Close Out window to view a different day.

##### **How can I export or download Shift Close Out data?**

Export the report to Excel or download a receipt using the icons in the Shift Close Out window.

- Click the export-to-Excel icon to download the report in Excel format.
- Click the receipt/download icon (bottom right corner) to download a receipt.

##### **What if the Shift Close Out button is not available to my user?**

Grant access by editing the user role permissions for Register → Shift Close Out.

1. Click Settings, then Manage Roles.
2. Find the desired user role, click Action (three dots), then Edit Permissions.
3. Open the Register dropdown and toggle on Shift Close Out.
4. Click Done.

##### **Troubleshooting: common issues**

- If Shift Close Out is not visible, confirm the role permission is toggled on as described above.
- If tip amounts or exports do not appear as expected, confirm you are viewing the correct date via the calendar filter.
