Register Settings: Loyalty Points -Inventory Specific Item Earning
Article Contents: Learn how to set up inventory-specific loyalty so points can be earned per item, calculated as fixed points or points per dollar, and controlled by register settings.
Step-by-Step:
Step 1: Click Settings, then go to Register Settings → Loyalty.
Step 2: Toggle Loyalty Applicable on, then under Loyalty Points Earning Strategy, select Inventory Specific Strategy.
Step 3: In Loyalty Program Customer Inclusion Methodology, choose who can earn loyalty points:
-
Club Wide Setting to allow all customers to earn points, or
-
Customers with Specific Classes Methodology to limit points to customers with designated classes. - For more information on Classes Methodology, Click Here.

Step 4: Click Save, then review your items: if the register is set to inventory-specific loyalty but an item does not have a Loyalty Type selected (Fixed or Points Per Dollar), that item will earn zero points—even if a number appears in the Earn field.
Step 5: Go to Settings → Inventory Center, then open the inventory item you want to configure.
Step 6: Find the loyalty fields and set Loyalty Type:
-
Choose Fixed to award the same points each time the item is purchased, or
-
Choose Points Per Dollar to calculate points automatically from the item price.

Step 7: If you chose Fixed, enter the point amount in Loyalty Value/Earn, then click Save. If you chose Points Per Dollar, the value field will be disabled because points are calculated from the item price.
Step 8: If you cannot click into the loyalty points field, confirm the item is not part of a combo. Loyalty points cannot be configured on combo items.
Example Scenario:
Your club wants to push high-margin snacks without changing prices. You set the register to Inventory Specific Strategy, then set “Noodle Pack” to Fixed = 5 points and “Soda” to Fixed = 1 point. A customer buys both items and pays with a credit card, so they earn 6 total points. For a limited-time promotion, you switch a featured item to Points Per Dollar so higher-priced purchases earn more points automatically.
