Register: Soft seats

Soft Seats let you attach items on one tab to specific seats at a table, then split the check cleanly by seat at the end. This is the desktop register workflow.

Open a tab with seats

Step 1: Click the table icon to start a tab.

Step 2: Select the number of seats at the table (for example, 4), then select the table (for example, Table 2). The tab shows the allocated seats.

Assign items to seats (two ways)
  • Method 1 — by item: add the items, then use the drop-down arrow on an item to assign it to Seat 1, Seat 2, and so on.
  • Method 2 — by seat: select a seat first (for example, Seat 1), then add the item — it assigns to the active seat immediately.

Sending to the kitchen and bar

When you send the order, seat-assigned items print with their seat (Seat 1, Seat 2, and so on). Any item that is not assigned to a seat prints under the table header, which tells the kitchen the item is for the table rather than a specific guest.

Splitting and cashing out

Step 1: To combine guests, assign one seat to another (for example, assign Seat 4 to Seat 1 and Seat 3 to Seat 2 for two couples).

Step 2: Click Split. Only the paying seats appear as separate tabs (Seat 1 and Seat 2 in the example).

Step 3: Cash out each split tab the way you normally would.

TIP: Once you are past seat tracking and just closing out, the plus (+) key adds additional tabs without seats.
