# Reports : Tax Exempt Report

## Review tax-exempt tickets, their reasons, and an estimate of the tax exempted for any date range.

##### **Overview**

The Tax Exempt Report lists the tickets that were marked tax exempt, so you can check what was exempted, why, and how much tax that came to, for example at month end. It is in the **REPORTS** module of Club Caddie desktop.

Each ticket shows its items with the sale amount, the tax collected and the tax exempted on each one, followed by a **Total** line for the ticket. A **Grand Total** at the end adds up every ticket in the report.

##### **Run the report**

1. Click **REPORTS** in the top navigation.
2. Scroll down the report list on the left and click **Tax Exempt Report**. The report opens on the last 7 days with **Tax Exempt Orders** ticked, and runs straight away.

3. Pick your date range. Click **Day**, **Week**, **Month** or **Year** to run the report for today, the last 7 days, the last 30 days or the last 365 days. For other dates, set the start and end dates and click **Search**.
4. Keep **Tax Exempt Orders** ticked to see only tickets marked tax exempt. If you change the dates with the date boxes or the arrows, or change this box, click **Search** to update the report.

##### **Read a ticket**

1. Find the ticket's bold line. It shows the **Date** the ticket was paid, the **Ticket** number, the **Tender** it was paid with (such as cash or credit\_voucher), and the **Reason** recorded when the ticket was made tax exempt.
2. Read the item lines listed above that bold line. For each item, **Sale Amount** is its price before tax and **Tax Collected** is the tax charged on it. **Tax Exempt** is an estimate of the tax that would have applied, worked out from the item's tax setup.
3. Check the **Total** on the bold line for the ticket's sums of **Sale Amount**, **Service Charge**, **Tax Collected** and **Tax Exempt**.

##### **Check the Grand Total and export**

1. Use the arrows in the report toolbar to move between pages.
2. On the last page, scroll to the end. The **Grand Total** row adds up the same four columns for every ticket in the report.

3. To save a copy, click the export icon (the disk) in the report toolbar and choose a format, such as **Excel**, **PDF** or **CSV (comma delimited)**.

##### **Common Questions**

**Why does one ticket show both Tax Collected and Tax Exempt amounts?**

Some items on that ticket were tax exempt and others were taxed. The taxed items show their tax under **Tax Collected**, and the exempt items show theirs under **Tax Exempt**.

**Why does an item show 0.00 under both Tax Collected and Tax Exempt?**

This usually means the item has no tax set up, so there was no tax to charge or to exempt.

**Why is the Reason blank on some tickets?**

The **Reason** column shows the reason recorded on the ticket. When no reason was entered, it stays blank.

**How do I see all sales in the date range, not just tax-exempt ones?**

Untick **Tax Exempt Orders** and click **Search**. The report then also lists paid tickets that were not tax exempt, and items that were taxed show 0.00 under **Tax Exempt**.
