Register Settings: Loyalty Points Overview
Article Content: This article provides an overview of how Loyalty Points work in Club Caddie, including the settings that control how customers earn and redeem points. It covers choosing an earning model in Register Settings (club-wide vs inventory-specific), configuring item-level point rules, and limiting earning to eligible customer classes. It also notes key rules like register settings overriding item setup and that purchases paid with points—or made by ineligible customers/items—earn 0 new points.
Loyalty points are earned when a customer makes a purchase, based on the rules you configure in Register Settings. Your club decides whether points are calculated using a single club-wide formula (points per dollar across the whole check) or whether points are controlled at the item level (so some items can earn more or fewer points than others). You can also decide whether all customers earn points or only customers in specific customer classes (membership types) marked as eligible. One important rule to know is that if a purchase is paid for using loyalty points, that purchase earns 0 new points. Another common point-miss is when the register is set to item-specific earning but the item itself is not configured with a Loyalty Type—those items earn 0 points until they are set up correctly.

Step 1: Enable Loyalty Points (required)

Click the settings icon (gear wheel) in the upper right-hand corner of Club Caddie, then select Register Settings from the left-hand menu.

Click the Loyalty tab.

Toggle/check Loyalty Applicable to turn loyalty on, then Submit/Save.

Step 2: Choose how points are earned (register strategy)

Go to Settings → Register Settings → Loyalty.

Under Loyalty Points Earning Strategy, choose your earning model:

Club-Wide Points Per Dollar (one rule for all items), or
-
Inventory Specific Strategy (points are set per item)

Click Save.

Step 3: Set who can earn points (all customers vs specific classes)

Go to Settings → Register Settings → Loyalty.

In Loyalty Program Customer Inclusion Methodology, choose one:

Club Wide Setting (all customers earn), or
-
Customers with Specific Classes Methodology (only selected classes earn)

If using Specific Classes, go to Settings → Class Management.

Enable Eligible for Loyalty for the class(es) that should earn points (Action → Edit Class), then Save.

Step 4: Configure item loyalty (only if using Inventory Specific Strategy)
A) Set through the Inventory Center

Click the Gear Wheel icon, then select Inventory Center.

Select Inventory Management, find the item, then click View/Edit.

In the Edit Item window, set:

Loyalty Type = Fixed or Points Per Dollar

If Fixed, enter the points value
-

Click Update/Save.
B) Set through Register
-
Open the REGISTER module.

In the inventory list, right-click the item and choose Edit Inventory.

In the Edit Item window, set Loyalty Type and points (if Fixed), then click Update/Save.

Notes (common “why did they earn 0?” causes)

If the register is set to Inventory Specific Strategy and an item does not have a Loyalty Type selected, it earns 0 points.

Loyalty cannot be configured on combo items.

Purchases paid with loyalty points earn 0 new points.
